Melbourne interiors enthusiast Az De La Cruz, his partner Jamie and their cavoodle Bella have just built their Boutique home in a style Az dubs #ScandiButch. This muted, masculine palette creates “a blank canvas” for quirky, personal accent pieces.

Az and Jamie adored the “sense of luxe in Boutique’s architecture and layout that no other builder could rival”. The quality of finishes and practicality of the floorplans to suit their lifestyle confirmed that Boutique was the one for them.

Before their colour selection appointment, the pair “focused on how we wanted to feel in our home.” Their choices were guided by the organic beauty of timber and stone, “the texture and rawness of fresh concrete,” and the natural light filling their north-facing home.

The generosity of Boutique’s online community also impressed Az, who “pays it forward” with his own witty Instagram advice. His top tips for Boutique customers? Visit “every single Boutique display home,” find “a wealth of wisdom and experience” on Facebook forums, and “make besties with Instagram and Pinterest.” Play with samples of paint swatches, tiles, carpets and Caesarstone to “get visually creative.”

Keep upgrades under budget by sorting non-negotiable must-haves from potential compromises.

“And remember – at the end of the day, no one else’s opinion matters!” says Az. “If you love it, run with it!”
