MEDIA RELEASE

25th May 2021

Leading Victorian builder, Boutique Homes has partnered with renowned developer Moremac, to build one of its premium family homes to benefit local not-for-profit children’s charity, Cottage by the Sea. Located in Point Lonsdale, the new home will be auctioned once complete, with 100 percent of the proceeds from the home’s sale going directly to the charity.

On a mission to enhance the lives of young people by providing inspirational and fun opportunities within a holiday environment, Cottage by the Sea offers tailored camp programs for children in need, across four coastal locations around Geelong and The Bellarine Peninsula.

Cottage by the Sea CEO, Adam Wake, explains that funds raised from the sale of the charity home will support the expansion of Cottage by the Sea’s much-loved Riptide building in Queenscliff, allowing it to continue accommodating camp groups and families.

“We are so excited that Boutique Homes is building and auctioning this incredible home in support of our Riptide building. Through funds raised from its sale, we’ll be able to continue to provide positive, long-lasting benefits to children and families at Riptide through school camps and family respite holidays,” said Wake.

“Taking part in school camps is proven to bring positive, long-lasting benefits to children, helping build confidence, form healthy relationships and friendships and improve physical and emotional wellbeing, in addition to increased engagement in school and greater career prospects. We already have 51 camps booked for 2021 and an additional 25 respite holidays at Riptide for families in need.”

Geelong local, Channel 9 presenter and long-time Cottage by the Sea ambassador, Rebecca Maddern, is fully involved and excited to be on the journey.

“As a mother, I know first-hand how important it is for children to learn by being in nature and stepping out of their comfort zone. I can’t wait to see how much money we can raise from the auction of this beautiful Boutique home. These much needed funds will help Cottage by the Sea continue their mission to enhance the lives of local children for years to come,” said Maddern.

Cottage by the Sea was recently awarded Community Organisation of the Year on Australia Day, for its meal program provided during COVID-19. Through this program, over 15,000 meals were prepared from the Riptide kitchen and home delivered to those in need within the local community.

Managing Director of ABN Group Victoria, Aidan Hooper, said the entire company was extremely proud to be supporting Cottage by the Sea and the work it is doing for the wider community.

“Every couple of years we select a worthy cause to support and get behind. In 2020, we became aware of the incredible work Cottage by the Sea has been doing within the community for over 130 years and the long-lasting and positive impact their programs have had on local children and their families. We put it to the team, and they were hugely inspired and keen to get involved.”

“We build hundreds of homes each year in the Geelong & Bellarine area, so building a charity home for auction seemed the most logical way for us to give back to that community. We’re hopeful of raising significant funds to enable Cottage by the Sea to continue their great work, providing memorable camp experiences to those in need,” said Hooper.

The four-bedroom, two-bathroom Barcelona home design will be built in a prime position within The Point Estate, with both water and park facing views. Featuring Boutique Homes’ new architecturally-inspired Flinders facade, the 32 square metre home will be bright and welcoming, with windows overlooking the sweeping views. With an impressive raked ceiling, neutral shades throughout and expansive living areas, this show stopping family abode is perfectly designed for coastal living.

Positioned just off the Bellarine Highway, The Point Estate – delivered by Moremac – is a serene seaside community, surrounded by waterways, green parklands and scenic walking tracks, nearby already established retail, leisure and healthcare amenities. With Geelong’s city centre a short 30-kilometre drive away, it has easy access to endless cafes, beaches and hiking trails on the picturesque Bellarine Peninsula.

Boutique Homes will begin construction of the home in April 2021, in collaboration with Cottage by the Sea and Moremac Property Group, the developer of The Point Estate, with the auction to follow in January 2022. Project suppliers Bradnam’s Windows & Doors, Brivis, ILVE and Surfaces by Hynes have generously provided their skills, services and in some cases a cash donation in support of the important initiative.
