A beautiful, high-end Hamptons aesthetic in your suburb of choice but on a budget? Sounds too good to be true, but it’s exactly what happened for the engaged couple, Laura and Stuart, when they built a Boutique townhome in Berwick’s Minta Estate.

‘For us, the location was really important. We grew up on the Mornington Peninsula and it was important that we remained close to family. Berwick really stood out to us – we love all the beautiful parks and the community feel,’ explains Laura, who works in Melbourne’s beauty industry.

‘We did consider an established property at first, but we wanted our home to include everything we’ve ever wished for. With a Boutique townhome, we could afford to move into our suburb of choice while building a brand new home and still afford to upgrade a range of items around the home to make it more premium.’

What to expect from the build process

Laura and Stuart first discovered Boutique Homes when they began visiting our many display homes.

‘When we first started considering building a home, we mentioned it to our friends and family and a lot of them recommended Boutique Homes as a high quality builder,’ says Laura. ‘The Boutique townhomes were really the only townhomes we ever considered.’

The pair quickly fell in love with the ingenuity of the three-bedroom, two-bathroom Eden 18 home design, including its double living spaces to the ground floor and generous master suite with a walk-in-robe. These features, coupled with the luxurious Hamptons façade, made the townhome purchase a no-brainer.

‘The beautiful exteriors and how well the floorplan was designed checked all the boxes we were looking for,’ says Laura.

‘The standard inclusions were also a big drawcard for us – we loved that we were going to have a lot of features in our home that we may not have had otherwise.’

Laura and Stuart both agree that the build journey was a relaxing and enjoyable process, with communication a top priority for the Boutique Homes team.

‘This was our first home, so deciding to take the plunge into building was nerve-racking.  However, Boutique Homes were always so organised and kept us well informed along the way, so we always felt confident,’ says Laura.

‘We loved visiting the build site to check on the homes progress and to watch it all come together. Once the façade was up, we got really excited!’

Creating our unique interior design

The pair were set on creating a sophisticated yet relaxed coastal interior, with the Hamptons façade setting the tone from the outset. Selecting from three of our curated colour palettes, Laura and Stuart chose the Flinders scheme, featuring neutral tones, greys and clean whites. With the pair incorporating hints of blue, soft white furnishings and rattan throughout, their coastal, Hamptons style really came to life.

‘We focused on rattan furniture pieces and keeping everything feeling really cosy and inviting,’ adds Laura.

‘We love the way it turned out! Our interior design feels so fresh and lets so much light in.’

Laura and Stuart’s top three tips for first home builders

  1. Consider a townhome: Buying our townhome has changed our lives in the best way possible – so, if you’re thinking about it, go for it! Especially for first home buyers or downsizers, it’s a fantastic option. Boutique townhomes are so spacious and the floorplans are so well thought out, yet affordable. It’s the best of both worlds!
  2. Trust the process: At first, we did feel very nervous about buying our first home. However, find the right builder and you’ll be in good hands! Just try to enjoy it as much as you can.
  3. Make use of social media: It’s been a game changer throughout our build journey. We originally started our Hamptons Townhome Instagram page to help record our build memories and we are so glad we did it! It’s been a great way to replay the journey of our home coming to life.
