It’s time to take the ever-popular Hamptons interior style up a notch. Featuring a navy and white colour palette with a touch of timber, the coastal Hamptons concept gets a fresh and contemporary upgrade at the Ascot 36 display home in Orana Estate in Clyde North.
‘This four-bedroom, two-bathroom home brings a luxurious and sophisticated edge to a traditional Hamptons interior design while remaining relaxed and welcoming,’ explains Boutique Homes Senior Interior Designer, Mitra Whittle.
Traditional Hamptons styles are renowned for their colour palette of fresh whites and coastal blues. But for a more opulent look, don’t be afraid to experiment with darker hues. ‘For a formal, sophisticated feel to a Hamptons style home, increase the intensity and depth of the colours,’ says Mitra. ‘In the Ascot 36, I selected a stunning deep navy feature colour, which you can see most clearly in the and feature walls.’
‘You can also counter-balance the moody tones with a lighter, brighter accent colour,’ adds Mitra. ‘At the Ascot 36, it’s a fun dusty pink found in the velvet armchairs and plush furnishings.’
Natural timber-look floorboards will have you dreaming of Hampton’s sandy white beaches. But for a more luxe effect, choose darker shades rather than sandy tones. ‘Antique Rossell flooring is used throughout the home to break up the cooler palette with a rustic, tactile element. It’s relaxed and welcoming while remaining opulent,’ says Mitra. ‘It also offers a beautiful springboard for wood elements throughout the home’s furniture and furnishings, including the cabinetry in the home office and furniture used in the living areas.’
Maintain this theme of bringing nature indoors by using servery windows, bi-fold doors and plenty of greenery.
Insert a sense of dimension and class to key areas with a feature tile or touch of brass, enchanting the senses and drawing your eye into the space. Subway tiles are seriously trending and, when laid in a herringbone pattern, offer a contemporary feature to uplift any room.
‘Herringbone subway tiles work perfectly as a splashback in the kitchen, especially when matched with a fresh Caesarstone benchtop, such as Cloudburst Concrete,’ says Mitra. ‘You can also use patterned tiles to extend a feature colour to smaller areas of the home, such as a powder room, making the space appear larger.’
Top tip: Couple your feature tiles with brass fixtures and fittings to add the ‘Luxe’ to ‘Luxe Hamptons’. ‘These elements work particularly well when contrasted against white splashbacks or moody feature walls,’ adds Mitra.
