Creating our unique interior design
The pair used the beauty of the Cape façade as a launchpad for their mid-century modern interiors.
‘We wanted a space that emphasised practical living with a focus on entertaining. Our colour palette includes neutral greys, coastal tones and matte black features, with soft lines, natural raw timbers and rattan and retro influences throughout,’ says Madelyn.
‘Our Interior Design Consultation was a fun and easy process thanks to our Interior Designer. It’s exciting curating a palette for your home and seeing how it all comes together.’
Along with their dedicated Boutique Homes Interior Designer, Madelyn and Deane leaned on Boutique’s social media community for design advice. The couple’s Instagram page @casacooper_ has over 2,000 followers and has offered a beautiful way for the pair to document and share a significant life highlight.
‘The Boutique Homes social media community and hashtags provided an abundance of inspiration and valuable information for like-minded people going through the same journey as us,’ says Madelyn.

Madelyn and Deane’s top three tips for first home builders
- Set your budget early: Know your monetary boundaries, but also set aside a little ‘splurge fund’ for upgrades. There’s no doubt you’ll stumble across items that you can’t live without during the colours process.
- Prepare for your Interior Design Consultation: This was our favourite part of the build process but it’s also important to do your research beforehand. Bring photos, colour swatches and décor ideas to your appointment to get the most out of your consultation. If you can, have an idea of what you want your wall and floor colour to be – we knew we wanted a blueish grey wall and grey tiles throughout. From there, the rest of our colour choices quickly fell into place.
- Create a non-negotiable list: Before you hit the display home circuit, think about your lifestyle and what design elements would make your home easy and practical to live in. As a family, write a list of your non-negotiables and nice-to-haves, so you know exactly what you’re looking for.
