How to handle drain blockages

Nobody likes a blocked toilet or drain however, as a homeowner, it’s important to be aware that blockages may occur from time to time. The good news? There are things you can do to prevent and clear potential blockages and avoid costly plumber call outs.

The easiest and simplest approach is to be aware of the items you’re sending down the drain. Steer clear of objects such as toys, sanitary wipes, paper towels and cotton balls.

If you still find yourself with a blockage, you can attempt to clear it using a plunger. If you’re unsuccessful clearing the blockage, we recommend inspecting the overflow relief gully (ORG) located outside. If you see this is blocked or overflowing, please contact the Home Assist team.
